The Open Joint Azerbaijan Championships in Gymnastics Disciplines have been organized well, Yvette Brasier, president of the European Union of Gymnastics' Technical Committee for Women's Artistic Gymnastics from France said.

Brasier said she likes the championship, because it is a great opportunity to have more than one discipline at the time.

She said that usually, such championships are not held in Europe, since it is difficult to organize all the disciplines together. "It is a big challenge for organizers. But I am sure that the goal was reached."

Moreover, Brasier expressed confidence that the First European Games to be held in Baku in June will be perfect as well.

She added that if Azerbaijan, Baku European Games Organizing Committee (BEGOC), technical delegates work all together, everything will be done.

Talking about the National Gymnastics Arena, she said that it is wonderful, like a dream. "We have never seen such a kind of arena only for gymnastics. Because usually when you have a big arena, it is not only for gymnastics."

Furthermore, she said that Azerbaijan can expect medals in the rhythmic gymnastics competitions, since it is one of the best teams in Europe.

However, she said that it will be more difficult for the Azerbaijani team to win medals in artistic gymnastics, since this type of sport has been developing in the country not so long ago, while the best teams in Europe, including Russia and Great Britain will take part in the Games.

Brasier added that nevertheless, the Azerbaijani team can expect good results in this type of gymnastics as well, but it will be difficult.

Open Joint Azerbaijan Championships in Gymnastics Disciplines kicked off in Baku on Mar.4. This is the test championship on the eve of the First European Games.

Coming from 22 countries, 133 gymnasts are competing for medals in both the all-around and individual competitions.

The European Games themselves will be hosted in Baku on June 12-28, 2015. There will be a total of 20 sports at Baku 2015: 16 Olympic sports and four non-Olympic sports. More than 6,000 athletes from across Europe will be representing their nations over 17 days of competition. Baku was awarded the games by the European Olympic Committees (EOC) in December 2012.
