Baku, Azerbaijan, June 9

By Maksim Tsurkov - Trend:

The passengers of Azerbaijan Airlines' Baku-Istanbul flight, which was earlier delayed due to the plane's collision with a flock of birds, will depart from Baku on the next flight, AZAL spokesman Pasha Kasamanski told Trend June 9.

In order to ensure the sooner departure of those passengers, AZAL management has decided to combine two flights to Istanbul and to provide a Boeing-767 plane with a larger capacity, he added.

"The plane carrying out the next flight was scheduled to take off at 19:15 (UTC/GMT + 4 hours), but its flight will be delayed as the passengers [of the previously delayed flight] will have to go through necessary procedures," said Kasamanski.

Earlier, the Baku-Istanbul flight, operated by AZAL, was delayed as the plane collided with a flock of birds during take-off. The collision occurred on the runway and in accordance with the rules, the crew commander decided not to carry out the flight.

There were no casualties as a result of the incident.
