Head coach of the Azerbaijani tumbling team Adil Huseynzade said that the national team will do its best to achieve historic victory for the Azerbaijani sport at the European Championships in Trampoline, Double Mini-Trampoline and Tumbling scheduled for April 12-15 in Baku.

Also, a junior European Championships for gymnasts aged 13-17 years in parallel with the main European Championships will be held, he told Trend on April 9.

"Azerbaijan will be represented by four juniors on the acrobatic track. They all are aged 13 and will compete with 17-year-old experienced athletes, but nevertheless our gymnasts are in good shape," the coach said.

He further noted that Mikhail Malkin is the leader of the Azerbaijani tumbling team.

"I think that he has reached his peak, he is in very good shape. Before the European Championships, we have participated in two very strong starts - the Open Cup and Championships of Russia, where we were invited. Malkin won the Russian Cup, and during the second competition he made a mistake, but he was admitted to the finals, where he also won," Huseynzade said.

According to the head coach, Russian athletes are the main contenders for victory in team and individual events.

The European Championships in Trampoline, Double Mini-Trampoline and Tumbling will be held in Baku on April 12-15. More than 400 gymnasts from 25 federations are expected to join the Championships.

Both junior and senior competitions will be held in Individual and Synchronized Trampoline, Double Mini-Trampoline and Tumbling.

In the first two days of the competition, qualifications will be held for all types of the events both among junior and seniors, as well as the finals among the teams.

On April 14 gymnasts (junior and seniors) will perform in qualification both in individual and synchronous events.

In accordance with the format of the European and World Championships, according to which the competition in the individual event consists of two qualifying rounds, within the championship in the individual event semi-finals will be held before the finals among 24 gymnasts showing the best result in the first round.

On the last day of the competition, the medalists will be known in all four types of the gymnastics events (Individual and Synchronized Trampoline, Double Mini-Trampoline and Tumbling).

The European Championship is remarkable due to the fact that in Baku juniors will be able to win licenses for the 2018 Youth Olympic Games, and senior gymnasts - for the 2019 European Games.
