SUMGAYIT, Azerbaijan, October 24. The project of Sumgayit City Stadium, named after Mehdi Huseynzade provides 650 parking spaces, director of the stadium Nadir Guliyev told reporters, Trend reports.
According to him, the stadium meets all international standards.
"Reconstruction of Sumgayit City Stadium named after Mehdi Huseynzade started in 2020; construction work was carried out in stages and completed in 2022. The area of the stadium, with a capacity of 9,502 people, is 6.8 hectares. The stadium, which consists of 22 sectors, also has VIP and media stands for 545 people. The area is landscaped, and green areas have been created. Judo, boxing, and karate halls will function on the premises under the structure. There are also 2 gyms, a conference hall for 40 people, administrative offices, rooms for journalists, referees, doctors, commentators, coaches, and other technical and auxiliary rooms," he said.
Guliyev added that the stadium is envisaged to host games for the Azerbaijani national soccer team.
"We are ready to hold various kinds of competitions with the permission of AFFA," he added.
