The human rights activists, members of the working group on political prisoners are concerned over the inactivity of the structure over the latest 5 months, due to which they held a news conference on 20 December 2005, Trend reports.
The human rights defender Chingiz Ganizade noted, that the five-month standstill of the working group cast doubts on the structure’s further activities. В"The head of the state will sign a Decree on Pardoning shortly. According to the Memorandum signed between the government and the non-governmental organizations (NGOs) the working group sitting was to take place for discussing the list of political prisoners. However, it has not happened so far”, Ganiyev said.
Another human rights defender, Saida Godjamanli has also voiced her concern, saying “We will wait for the Pardoning Decree. In case no discussions are held with us prior to its signing, we will express pour official attitude to the fact”, she said, implying suspension of the Memorandum.
