Khojaly genocide to be commemorated in Moscow

On Sunday (26 February) the Coordination Council of Azerbaijani Youth staged ceremonies at Russia Hotel and Zaryad cinema in Moscow to commemorate the 14th anniversary of Khojaly genocide, Trend reports. Attending the event were representatives of different nations, members of the State Duma [Russian parliament], officials of the Russian Foreign Ministry and the Interior Ministry of Russia, Secretary General of the Congo Republic in Russia, military attachГ© of the Serbian embassy in Russia and over 450 guests. Several media units, including RIA Novosti, Lider TV, InterAz-TV, Voice of Russia were also in attendance.

The events with started with the play of state anthem of Azerbaijan commemorated the innocent victims of the Khojaly tragedy, as well as Azerbaijanis who died in a recent tragic roof collapse at Baumann bazaar in Moscow. Slides depicting the barbarities taken place in Khojaly were demonstrated for the participants in the ceremony. In their remarks to the official part the ceremony the first secretary of the Azerbaijani embassy in Moscow, Anar Imanov, the chairman of the CIS Center of the Congress of World Azerbaijanis (CWA), Khanlar Abulov, the chairman of the Coordination Council of the Azerbaijani Youth in Russia, Siyavush Mammadov and other speakers informed about the Khojaly genocide and brutality acts by Armenians. After they demonstrated a film on truth of Khojaly tragedy, produced by the Youth Organization in close cooperation with the television company InterAz.

The Coordination Council of the Azerbaijani Youth in Russia published this year a new book entitled Genocide of Azerbaijanis in Khojaly dealing with Khojaly tragedy.
