Azerbaijan and the World Health Organization (WHO) will wage a joint struggle against the fake and low-quality drugs, the WHO director general, Chon Wook Lee, who is currently on visit in Baku told Trend.
The preliminary agreement on this matter has been achieved during the meetings with high officials of the country, including Azerbaijani minister of healthcare, Oktay Shiraliyev.
This is one of the gravest problems in most countries of the world. In many countries the amounts of fake and low-quality drugs on sale are above 30% and it is necessary to wage a joint struggle in this field, he emphasized.
The health minister, Oktay Shiraliyev assured that a strict control over medicines has been introduced in all drug stores of the country.
We have stopped releasing unlimited licenses previously provided by the ministry and created a register of all medicines, in general, these works have been done at the necessary level, the minister told.
