The issue on implementation of the Council of Europe commitments by Georgia on the repatriation of Ahiska Turks to their native lands was discussed at the CE on 12-13 July, Veten, a Society of Ahiska Turks, told Trend.
The CEs expert group participated in the discussions held under the leadership of the CE General Secretariat in connection with the relevant issue. Till 2011 Georgia should implement the commitments on repatriation of Ahiska Turks.
A next congress of the Federation of Ahiska Turks was held in Turkey from 13 to 18 June. Addressing the forum head of the Society, said the Ahiska Turks residing in Turkey are willing to return to their native lands.
Burkhanov also underlined that meetings were also held with representatives of governmental and oppositions parties of Turkey.
