Trend Z.Safarov / "The fact of submitting applications to Baku for conducting Summer Games-2016 opens new prospects to develop the sport in Azerbaijan," said the Vice President of the National Olympic Committee of Azerbaijan (NOC), Chingiz Huseynzade, speaking of the prospects of the candidature of Baku for organization of the Olympic Games.
He stressed that the stages of selecting a place for conducting Olympiad is divided into two parts - so-called period of claimers and candidates. "IOC will take out the cities from the list of the claimers, after which a direct fight will begin for the right to attend the Games. Of course, it would be desirable if Baku would appear in the second circle of selection, but as a rule, the number of the candidates is limited. However, to appear in the circle of claimers gives an advantage and in any cases the city should improve its infrastructure," Huseynzade said.
