Azerbaijan, Baku /corr. Trend E.Huseynli / Irada Ibrahimova of the Press Service of Azerbaijan's Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources reported to Trend that the building which collapsed on 28 August in Baku in Mammad Nakchivani Street is not located in a landslide zone.
On 28 August at around 5pm, the building constructed by the company 'Mutafakkir' collapsed. The company's head, Asker Aliyev, was arrested in accordance with article 222 (breaking safety regulations during construction and other works) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan.
The Union of Architects of Azerbaijan highlights two possible reasons for the building's collapse: 1) wrongly devised construction, and 2) breaking safety regulations during construction work, said the Vice President of the Union, Hafiz Amirkhanov.
Ibrahimova said that the Ministry has not yet given its response to the environmental inspection of the building.
