Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev inspected the hydroponic greenhouse of the
"Gran ruta de la seda" (Great Silk Way) enterprise in Khavast district of Syrdarya region, Trend reports with reference to the presidential press service.
The soil in area is saline and unsuitable for the effective cultivation of crops. That is why hydroponic-based greenhouses that help save water and ensure high yields were constructed there. Experts state that 12 kilograms of tomatoes can be obtained from one bush on the basis of hydroponics against 3 kilograms by using the traditional method.
The greenhouse has high-yielding varieties of tomatoes and cucumbers from Holland planted there, as well as modern South Korean equipment installed.
At first, the area of the greenhouse was 1 hectare, in 2017, 18 jobs were created and products grown for 1.5 billion soums. In 2018, the area of greenhouses increased by 9 hectares, the number of jobs reached 120.
There are 1,500 tons of tomatoes are grown in the greenhouse during the year. It is planned to export products worth $2 million.
The company intends to commission greenhouses on another 10 hectares in the third quarter of this year. As a result, 100 new jobs will be created; production capacity will increase by 1,500 tons.
The president ordered to expand the network of such greenhouses and localize the production of necessary materials.
During his trip to the Syrdarya region, Shavkat Mirziyoyev also got acquainted with the work of Sirdaryo Universal Oyna LLC, which provides pharmaceutical packaging throughout the country for glass packaging.
He familiarized himself with projects for the production of pharmaceutical, textile, electrical products and building materials through investments, as well as projects for the modernization of Farkhad hydroelectric station, the construction of a small hydroelectric station near Sardobinsky reservoir and a multidisciplinary logistics center organized by Sirdaryo Golden Fruits LLC.
