Investments in the construction, reconstruction, repair, and maintenance of roads in Azerbaijan during 2020, given targeted external loans received with a state guarantee, exceeded 1.7 billion manat ($1 million), report of the Cabinet of Ministers for the past year stated, Trend reports on Mar.10.
Totally, 1,385 kilometers of roads were laid in the reporting year.
"Some 254.6 kilometers fell on national roads, 767.2 kilometers - local roads, 342.1 kilometers - roads in Baku, and 21.4 kilometers in Sumgayit," the report noted.
Besides, according to the report, on the existing highways of the capital Baku and other cities and villages of Azerbaijan through the above financial resources, 20 bridges were repaired, two road tunnels and one railway bridge were built, as well as nine pedestrian crossings were built and three were repaired.
In accordance with the decrees of the President of Azerbaijan dated December 30, 2019, and July 2, 2020, through allocations to the State Agency for Automobile Roads from the budget, roads were built and repaired in 29 villages, two bridges were reconstructed and new roads were repaired and built-in Baku.
