The production of honey by the Association of Beekeepers of Azerbaijan in late 2021 achieved record volume, the association’s chairman Badraddin Hasratov said in an interview with Trend.

According to Hasratov, this indicator amounted to 7,000 tons.

He noted that another success of the association was the increase in the number of bee colonies from 550,000 to 620,000.

The professional skills of beekeepers in the regions have also improved. For them, several seminars and training, as well as educational training on the Internet have been organized, the chairman further said.

Besides, according to him, the association is expanding the geography of honey exports, and current negotiations on this issue with the US, Japan, South Korea, Arab and European countries are underway.

Samples of Azerbaijani honey have already been sent to the US and South Korea, the association’s head noted.

This year, the bee colonies were taken to the Kalbajar and Lachin districts liberated from Armenian occupation [in the 2020 second Karabakh war], which was the greatest success of the Azerbaijan Beekeepers' Association, Hasratov stressed, adding that for the first time in the past 29 years, products from the above districts were presented at the honey fair [held in Baku].
