SHUSHA, Azerbaijan, June 4. Azerbaijan has the unique potential for the development of wind and solar energy, Chief Investment Officer (CIO) of ACWA Power Clive Turton said during a special session on 'Path to Zero Emissions: Developing the Green Energy Potential of the Liberated Territories' on the sidelines of the Baku Energy Week in Shusha on June 4, Trend reports.
According to him, Azerbaijan's solar energy potential is estimated at 23 GW, while its wind potential – at 3 GW. Offshore wind energy also features a considerable potential in the country.
Turton added that solar energy production capacity on the liberated lands is estimated at 7 GW.
"Meanwhile, the solar radiation level of these territories is 25 percent lower than in other parts of the country. That is a great potential for development," he said.
