BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 6. The value of Azerbaijan’s confections imports increased from January through May 2022, Trend reports via the statistical bulletin of the State Customs Committee.

According to the committee, this figure amounted to $54.7 million, up by $6.18 million (12.73 percent) on annual basis.

In the first five months of this year, the value of confections exported by Azerbaijan grew by more than three times compared to the same period of 2021 – up to $2.9 million, and the share of these products in total Azerbaijani exports equaled 0.02 percent.

Meanwhile, the country's foreign trade turnover in these products was $57.7 million, which is $8.2 million or 16.74 percent million more than in 5M2021.

Azerbaijan's total foreign trade turnover increased by $8.7 billion (73.87 percent) from January through May 2022 compared to the same period of last year - from $11.82 billion to $20.5 billion.

Exports accounted for $15.4 billion in the structure of foreign trade turnover, which is a growth of $7.9 billion (107.57 percent) year on year, while the share of exports in foreign trade turnover amounted to 75.01 percent against 62.83 percent a year earlier.

Azerbaijan's imports increased by $511.6 million (14.5 percent) in 5M2022, from $4.3 billion to $5.1 billion, and the share of imports in foreign trade turnover made up 24.99 percent against 37.17 percent a year earlier.
