BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 9. Azerbaijan’s retail trade turnover totaled 26.7 billion manat ($15.68 billion) from January through July 2022, up by 2.9 percent on an annual basis, Trend reports citing the country's State Statistical Committee.
Meanwhile, activity in food, beverages and tobacco amounted to 15 billion manat, or $8.8 billion (growth of 2.3 percent), whereas turnover in non-food products – 11.7 billion manat, or $6.8 billion (growth of 3.7 percent).
As the committee reported, 51.4 percent of consumer spending was for food, 4.8 percent – for beverages and tobacco, 12.8 percent – for textile products, clothing, and footwear, 5.7 percent – for motor gasoline and diesel fuel, 4.9 percent – for electrical appliances and furniture, 2.4 percent – for pharmaceutical and medical products, 1.1 percent – for computers, telecommunications, and printing equipment, and 16.9 percent – for other non-food products in the reporting period.
In the first seven months of 2022, the value of goods sold by private enterprises grew by 2.9 percent compared to the same period of 2021, making up 99.7 percent of the total retail turnover.
During this period, the retail trade activity for enterprises increased by 3.8 percent in real terms, for markets and fairs – by 6.9 percent, as well as for private businessmen – decreased by 0.5 percent compared to the same period of 2021.
Azerbaijan’s average monthly retail sales per capita totaled 379.8 manat ($223.09). Thereat, per capita expenditure on food, beverages and tobacco reached 213.5 manat ($125.4), while on non-food products – 166.3 manat ($97.68).
