Azerbaijan increases import of food products

BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 17. Azerbaijan imported more than 837,160 tons of food products from January through July 2022, which is 4.73 percent more than in the same period the previous year, Trend reports citing State Customs Committee (SCC).

According to the committee, Azerbaijan's import in value terms increased by 18 percent or $181.5 million up to $1.1 billion.

Azerbaijan imported over 23,550 tons of meat worth $39.7 million, 5,740 tons of milk ($9.3 million), 10,030 tons of dairy products ($68.4 million), 231,930 tons of vegetables and fruits ($141.9 million), 8,420 tons of tea (more than $42.1 million).

Azerbaijan also imported more than 507,100 tons of wheat, barley, corn and rice worth over $200.8 million.

The import of vegetable fats and oils amounted to about 84,360 tons worth more than $143.6 million.

Azerbaijan reduced the import of tobacco and tobacco products by 11.68 percent compared from January through July 2021- up to $49.9 million during this period.

Imports of pharmaceutical products increased in quantitative terms by 28.62 percent, or more than 3,880 tons - up to 17,480 tons compared to the same period in 2021, and in value terms - by 30.5 percent, or $77.3 million - up to more than $330.8 million dollars.
