BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 13. Azerbaijan's retail trade turnover reached 4.3 billion manat ($2.5 billion) in January 2023, increasing by 2.9 percent against the same period of 2022, Trend reports via the Azerbaijani State Statistical Committee.

Out of the total trade activity, food, beverage, and tobacco turnover amounted to 2.4 billion manat, or $1.409 billion (growth of 2.2 percent), while non-food products – 1.9 billion manat, or $1.1 billion (growth of 3.6 percent).

As the Committee noted, the population spent 50.5 percent of their funds on food products, 5.3 percent – on drinks and tobacco, 14 percent – on textiles, clothing, and footwear, 4.8 percent – on gasoline and diesel fuel, 4.5 percent – on electrical items and furniture, 2.8 percent – on pharmaceuticals and medicines, 0.9 percent – on computers, and 17.2 percent – on other non-food products, in the first month of 2023.

During this period, the value of private sector goods amounted to 99.6 percent of the total retail turnover, growing by 2.7 percent compared to January 2022.

The retail trade activity on enterprises increased by 1.4 percent, on markets and fairs – by 2.5 percent, and on individual businessmen – by 3.9 percent year over year.

The average monthly turnover of retail trade per capita amounted to 424.3 manat ($249.2), including food, beverages and tobacco products – 236.9 manat ($139.15), and non-food products – 187.4 manat ($110.07).
