BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 10. In the first quarter of 2023, 9,951 tons of food wheat have been exported from Russia’s Ulyanovsk region to Azerbaijan, Trend reports with reference to the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance of the Russian Federation (Rosselkhoznadzor).
According to the Rosselkhoznadzor, the products have passed laboratory tests.
As the agency noted, all products, complying with quarantine phytosanitary requirements of the importing country, have been approved for export.
"The Rosselkhoznadzor continues to expand the list of Russian organizations that have the right to export products to Azerbaijan," the agency said in a statement.
Moreover, since the beginning of this year, more than 15,900 tons of grain and its processed products have been exported from the Ulyanovsk region with an increase of 10 times per year. The main exported crop, food wheat grain, 11,856 tons of which have been shipped in total, while 1,065 tons have been shipped to Kazakhstan, and 840 tons to Kyrgyzstan. Thus, during the reporting period, Azerbaijan accounted for 83.9 percent of food wheat supplies from the Ulyanovsk region.
At the same time, Azerbaijan imported 1.2 million tons of wheat in 2022, which is 12.6 percent, or 144,890 tons more than the figure for 2021.
