Türkiye reveals volume of cargo transshipment from Egypt to its ports

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 18. Turkish ports from January through April 2023 handled 6.6 million tons of cargo from Egypt, the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Türkiye told TurkicWorld, Trend reports.

According to the ministry, vessels under the Turkish flag delivered 672,776 tons of cargo from Egypt to domestic ports, while vessels under the flags of other countries delivered 5.9 million tons.

During this period, 5,085 tons of cargo were delivered to the ports by ships under the Egyptian flag.

In the accounting period, 414,355 tons of transit cargo were transported from Egypt to the ports.

At the same time, the ports of Türkiye handled 33.6 million tons of cargo only in April 2023.

During the specified period, cargo transportation by ships under the flag of the country through domestic ports amounted to 2.3 million tons.

Cargo transportation via the ports of Türkiye by ships under the flags of other countries reached 31.2 million tons.

In addition, in the fourth month of the current year, the ports handled 5.1 million tons of transit cargo.

Furthermore, the Turkish ports handled 125.2 million tons of cargo.

In the accounting period, cargo transportation by ships under the flag of the country reached 8.8 million tons, while cargo transportation through the ports of the country by ships under the flags of other countries totaled 116.3 million tons.

Overall, the Turkish ports handled 23.4 million tons of transit cargo from January through April 2023.
