BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 19. The Port of Mersin in Türkiye handled 12.9 million tons of cargo from January through April 2023, the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of the country told TurkicWorld, Trend reports.
According to the ministry, 691,706 tons of cargo were delivered to the port of Mersin by ships under the flag of Türkiye, while by ships under the flags of other countries – 12.26 million tons.
A total of 131,686 tons of transit cargo were handled in the Turkish port of Mersin from January through April 2023, the ministry said.
Moreover, Turkish ports received 33.6 million tons of cargo in April 2023.
During this period, cargo traffic to domestic ports on ships under the Turkish flag reached 2.3 million tons.
At the same time, cargo transportation of vessels under the flags of other countries to the above ports totaled 31.2 million tons.
Besides, in April this year, 5.1 million tons of transit cargo were handled in the ports of Türkiye.
During the first four months of 2023, the ports handled 125.2 million cargo.
In the specified period, cargo transshipment by vessels under Türkiye’s flag amounted to 8.8 million tons, while by ships under the flags of other countries, cargo transportation to the ports reached 116.3 million tons.
Overall, in the mentioned period, about 23.4 million tons of transit cargo were transported from the country's ports.
