BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 23. The loan portfolio of Azerbaijani banks increased by 15.6 percent and reached 21.4 billion manat ($12.6 billion) as of July 31, 2023, compared to the same period in 2022, Trend reports.
According to the Central Bank of Azerbaijan, the loan portfolio of Azerbaijani banks amounted to 18.5 billion manat ($10.9 billion) as of July 31, 2022.
In addition, the share of business loans amounted to 54.38 percent (11.6 billion manat, or $6.8 billion—an increase of 10.72 percent over the year), consumer loans, 29.84 percent (6.4 billion manat, or $3.8 billion—an increase of 19.96 percent over the year), and mortgage loans, 15.78 percent (3.4 billion manat, or 2 billion—an increase of 26.09 percent over the year).
Total assets of banks exceeded 45.9 billion manat ($27 billion), total liabilities were 39 billion manat ($22.9 billion), and total capital was 5.8 billion manat ($3.4 billion) in Azerbaijan as of July 31, 2023.
According to the Central Bank of Azerbaijan, assets, liabilities, and capital of the banking sector increased by 7.91 percent, 7.11 percent, and 13.62 percent, respectively, compared to the same period in 2022.
