BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 12. The Horadiz-Aghband project in Azerbaijan is 45 percent complete, Chairman of Azerbaijan Railways CJSC Rovshan Rustamov told reporters, Trend reports.
He stated that the project would be completed in 2025.
"The job is moving quickly. The first tunnel is currently under development," Rustamov remarked.
He noted that the remaining final work is related to Tezekend, Kocharli, and Barda stations.
“Their construction is underway and will be completed in the near future. Work is underway to coordinate projects to begin construction of the bus station and railway complexes in Aghdam,” the official added.
The construction of the Horadiz-Aghband railway, with a length of 110.4 kilometers, was launched in accordance with the order of the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, dated March 13, 2021.
The railway line passes through Fuzuli, Jabrayil, and Zangilan districts liberated from Armenian occupation in the 2020 second Karabakh war.
