BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 23. The number of wage workers in Azerbaijan increased by 12,600 people or 0.73 percent, as of April 1, 2024, compared to the same period of 2023, Trend reports.
As of April 1, 2024, the State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan reported 1.7 million wage workers, 899,800 in the public sector and 849,100 in the private sector.
Out of the total number of employed citizens, 19 percent work in education, 18.6 percent in trade and vehicle repair, and 8.4 percent in health care and social services.

According to preliminary data, the average monthly nominal wage of salaried employees in Azerbaijan from January through March 2024 increased by 9.3 percent compared to the same period last year and amounted to 985.3 manat ($579.2).
The mining, banking and insurance, information and communication, and scientific and technological industries showed higher monthly nominal wages.
