ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, October 2. Turkmenistan and Russia will expand their cooperation in the fisheries sector, Trend reports via the official Turkmen media.

This cooperation was discussed during the participation of representatives from the Turkmen Agricultural University at the seventh international fisheries forum and exhibition in St. Petersburg.

The event aimed to cast a wider net in boosting international scientific and educational collaboration within the fisheries industry.

The forum featured speeches from the Minister of Fisheries and Maritime Economy of Guinea, as well as representatives from Russian universities.

The speeches kicked off a lively back-and-forth about ways to reel in better fishing practices.

To note, the exhibition showcased Russia's latest advancements in the fisheries sector, covering areas from fishing and processing to shipbuilding and repair.

A representative from the Turkmen delegation highlighted that the forum served as an important platform for creating a new model of international scientific and educational cooperation aimed at training specialists for the fishing industry.
