French SUEZ to modernize water supply of Tashkent

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 15

Administration of Tashkent city has announced the start of cooperation with French SUEZ International, Trend reports citing the press service of Tashkent Сity Hall.

The corresponding contract was signed between Tashkent Mayor Jahongir Artikhodjaev and CEO for the Middle East, Central Asia and Caucasus of SUEZ, Cyril Courjaret in March 2020. According to the contract, a promising and innovative seven-year Tashkent Water Supply Transformation Plan project will be implemented.

The total budget of this project is 185.4 million euros, of which 142 million euros will be used with loans from leading European banks. The funds will be allocated to modernize urban water supply and sewerage networks and improve their management in accordance with the highest international standards.

The project also includes the introduction of the latest intelligent management technologies and the transfer of comprehensive SUEZ know-how, based on SUEZ's 150 years of experience in this field in over 80 countries.

To date, the agreed draft terms of reference, for the subsequent preparation of the feasibility study of the project, has been reviewed by the Industry Scientific and Technical Council (SSTC) of the Ministry of Housing and Communal Services.
