From January through August 2020, the volume of construction work performed in Uzbekistan amounted to 55,502 billion soums ($5.41 billion), Trend reports referring to uzdaily.uz.
As of September 1, 2020, the number of enterprises and organizations in the construction sector of Uzbekistan reached 39,500 units, and, compared to the same period last year, it increased by 4,200 units.
The main factor in the growth in the number of construction enterprises and organizations was the increase in specialized work by 6.6 percent, in the construction of civil facilities the number of enterprises and organizations increased by 21.6 percent, in the construction of buildings and structures - by 19.4 percent.
The highest share in terms of the number of construction enterprises in the republic was observed in Tashkent city - 18.8 percent, in the Tashkent region - 8.6 percent, and in the Kashkadarya region - 8.2 percent.
Construction work in the country as a whole, carried out by state organizations, reached 2,245 billion soums ($219 million). The volume of construction work performed by non-governmental organizations amounted to 53,258 billion soums ($5.19 billion), and their share amounted to four percent and 96 percent respectively.
A significant part of the work was carried out in January August 2020 for the construction of new buildings and structures. Some 70 percent of the total volume of construction work, or 39,261 billion soums ($3.82 billion), were directed to the creation of new production facilities in the economy, housing and communal services, and other social facilities.
The highest share in the total volume of work on the construction of buildings and structures in January through August 2020 was recorded in the following regions:
Jizzakh region - 83 percent of the total volume of construction in this region, or 1,622 billion soums ($158 million);
Fergana region - 78 percent of the total volume of construction in this region, or 2,454 billion soums ($239 million);
Navoi region - 77 percent of the total volume of construction in this region, or 2,039 billion soums ($199 million).
The highest share in the total volume of specialized construction work in January through August 2020 was recorded in the following regions:
Tashkent city - 21.3 percent of the total volume of construction work in this region, or 2,477 billion soums ($241 million);
Namangan region - 18.4 percent of the total the volume of construction work in this region, or 508 billion soums ($49.5 million);
Republic of Karakalpakstan - 16.8 percent of the total volume of construction work in this region, or 427 billion soums ($41.7 million).
