Urban Regeneration Corporation of Iran is working to finish renovation of some 300,000 old houses in Iran within the next two years, said the Minister of Road and Urban Development Rostam Ghassemi, Trend reports citing IRNA.

The Central Bank of Iran will annually provide some 360 trillion rials (about $85 million) for renovation, Ghassemi noted.

"The financial resources for urban renovation will be provided as part of the national house construction plan," he indicated.

Ghassemi said the construction of new houses has already started in some cities, and the Central Bank of Iran is working to remove the obstacles to provide loans to applicants.

Iran's Ministry of Road and Urban Development plans to construct two million housing units for the low-income class in one year, as part of the government's landmark housing plan to build four million residential units in the next four years.
