Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. S. Babayeva / Azerbaijan will take part at the thirty-fourth sessioin of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) which will be held in Rome, Italy from 17 to 24 November. Ismat Abbasov, the Azerbaijani Agriculture Minister, is expected to attend the session.
FAO's members meet at the conference once every two years. The general director of the organization is expected to be elected during the conference for a six year term. The current General Director, Dr. Jacques Diouf ( Senegal), was elected in January 2000 for his second term.
Azerbaijan took part at the thirty-third session of the conference in November 2005. Azerbaijan became an FAO member in October 1995.
