Azerbaijan, Baku, 30 March /corr. Trend I.Khalilova / The third meeting of the EU-Azerbaijan Sub-Committee on Transport and Energy will take place in Baku on 3 April, said Rufat Mammadov, the Executive Director of the Coordination Bureau for EU Technical Programmes (TACIS) Azerbaijan. The mission of the European Commission, including representatives of EUROPEAD and EU General Directorate Caydo Serel, Angelo Borgoni and others, is expected to visit Azerbaijan on 1 April to attend the meeting.
The meeting is planned to get familiarized with the process of realization of the measures specified in unofficial document 'Instrument of Implementation of EU Action Plan'. The Action Plan within European Neighborhood Policy was adopted in November 2006 in Brussels.
The document contains priority measures which had to be implemented by December 2007. It deals with further intensification of the transit potential on TRACECA corridor and future co-operation with regards to marine, aviation, railway and automobile transport.
Azerbaijan's Ministry of Transport has already asked the European Commission to provide assistance in strengthening the potential of newly established Sea and Aviation Administrations.
The meeting of the sub-committee will also consider Azerbaijan's energy co-operation with the EU countries.
