Azerbaijan, Baku, 21 June / Trend / From January to May 2008, Azerbaijani transport means carried 33,490,900 tons of cargo, which is 4.5%more than the same period of 2007, the State Customs Committee reported. The export during this period made up - 29,548,200 tons and import - nearly 3,942,700 tons.
In this period a total of 271,500 tons of cargo was shipped, 7,611,700 tons was transported by railway, 272,400 by automobiles, 1,900 tons by airways, over 21,387,300 tons by pipelines.
Cargo transportation to Switzerland and Italy via the territory of Azerbaijan exceeded 895,500 tons, to Georgia - over 435,300 tons, Tajikistan - 195,800 tons, Iran - 120,200 tons, Russia - 81,700 tons, Turkey - 108,400 tons, Turkmenistan - 69,000 tons, Kazakhstan - 18,100 tons.
