The GDP will increase 1 percent in Georgia in 2009, representative of the International Monitory Fund (IMF) Edward Gardner said.

He represents statistical data about the influence of global financial crisis in Caucasus and Central Asia and made economic projection in the region.

The global financial crisis has affected Georgia less, as its economy has been integrated to the world economy the least. The affection of global financial crisis was insufficient due to country's small foreign debts and Georgia managed to balance the financial shock through direct investments.

Gardner said the global financial crisis would have minor affect to Georgia's economy in the second half of 2009.

He also talked about the future plans of the IMF, and noted that Georgia has received two tranches out of the fund's donor conference for Georgia $727 million, and the third tranche in the amount of $ 73 million will be approved in the end of June. This amount is intended to strengthen the currency reserves.
