Cost of living is $85 in Kazakhstan

The amount of cost of living was 12,568 tenge ($1 to 150 tenge) in May 2009, the Kazakh Statistics Agency said.

"The average living wage per capita, calculated at the rate of minimum standards of basic foods, increased by one and a half per cent in May of this year compared with the previous month, and by as 4.7 per cent compared to May last year," the Agency said.

19.1 percent accounted for meat and fish, 15.8 percent -dairy, eggs and oil products, 13.2 per cent - fruits and vegetables, 9.5 per cent - bread and 2.4 percent - sugar, tea and spices.

Living wage is the minimum necessary income per capita equal to the value of the minimum consumer basket.

The minimum consumption basket is a minimum set of food, goods and services needed for human life in physical and value terms. It consists of a food basket and a fixed share of the non-food goods and paid services

40 percent accounts for minimum needed non-food commodities and services from the cost of minimum consumer basket.
