Mirkazemi meets Bokhanovsky

Iranian Oil Minister Masoud Mirkazemi met Gas Exporting Countries Forum Secretary-General Leonid Bokhanovsky here on Saturday.

The two officials discussed the upcoming GECF meeting in 2011, international strategies for pricing energies, energy supply and demand, and stagnation on the market and its effect on natural gas price and the decrease in natural gas prices.  

SHANA news agency quoted Mirkazemi as saying that in the forthcoming gathering of the gas authorities various measures and policies for the continuation of the work of the GECF will be reviewed.

The Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) is a gathering of the world's leading gas producers aimed at representing and promoting their mutual interests.

The GECF was set up with the objective to increase the level of coordination and strengthen the collaboration between member countries.

The forum also seeks to promote dialogue between gas producers and consumers.

The GECF has had 10 ministerial meetings. The first was held in 2001 in Iran and the most recent in April 2010 in Algeria.
