India and China Thursday announced a telephone hotline, and set a new bilateral trade target of 100 billion dollars by 2015.
A joint statement issued after delegation-level discussions between Indian Premier Manmohan Singh and his counterpart Wen Jiabao said India and China had decided to enhance strategic communication and enhance functional cooperation as well as cultural exchanges, DPA reported.
A telephone hotline had been set up between the two prime ministers and they had agreed to regular consultations on issues of importance to both countries, the statement said.
India and China fought a brief war in 1962 and are currently engaged in disputes over parts of their 4,000-kilometre border.
They also set a new trade target of 100 billion dollars by 2015 and agreed on measures to promote Indian exports to China to reduce Delhi's trade deficit.
