The leader of the banking market in the country, the International Bank of Azerbaijan, has won the first international contest "Banks of the CIS, Baltic states, Georgia-2010". It was nominated as the "Best automated bank", the bank said.
IBA Chairman of Board Jahangir Hajiyev was recognized as "Banker of the Year (the best top-manager)" in the "Best Banks of GUAM-2010" contest. This is the 44th award given to the International Bank of Azerbaijan by the international institutions since 2002, for the bank's contribution to the development of the banking sector.
The contest consisted of two stages, conducted among 173 banking institutions of the GUAM member-states. Roughly 11 banks and four bankers won the contest in various categories.
Representatives of central banks, banking associations, ministries and departments, diplomatic missions accredited in Ukraine, businessmen and media representatives attended the ceremony.
