Iran leads for steel production growth rate worldwide

Iran 's steel production growth rate was 13 percent in first half of 2011, daily Donya e Eqtesad reported quoting Iran's Ministry of Industries and Mines report.

By producing more than 5.5 million tons of steel the country over-passed the world's major steel producers in term of production growth.

"Iran's steel production reached 1.073 million ton in May 2011, an increase by 5.4 percent compared to the same period of last year," he said.

Iran steel production amounted to 5.583 million tons in the first half of 2011. The figure was 4.942 tons over the first six months of the last year.

Iran's steel production growth rate was higher than the world's major steel producers like China, India, US, France ,Germany, Italy, Spain ,Russia, Ukraine, Canada, Mexico , Japan and UK in the first half of 2011.
