The next Uzbek-American Business Forum will be held in Washington D.C. on Tuesday, a source in government circles told Trend on Monday.

The source said that the business forum is aimed at developing measures to improve bilateral trade.

The previous Uzbek-American Business Forum was held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan's capital, in February 2011. The forum was attended by representatives of 20 major U.S. companies, including the corporations Honeywell, General Electric, Boeing Exxon Mobile, Sikorsky Aircraft, and Case New Holland. The forum successfully prepared a mutually beneficial agreement to further strengthen bilateral trade and investment ties.

Diplomatic relations between Uzbekistan and the United States were established in 1992. The legal basis for cooperation between the two countries is regulated by over 50 instruments; in particular, the Declaration on the Principles of a strategic partnership and cooperation, signed in 2002.
