National Company Uzbektourism has developed a number of projects to attract tourists to the country during periods of low tourism seasons.
In particular, the company submitted for the Tashkent administration's consideration proposal on organizing in the capital clearance sales to attract tourists during periods of low tourism seasons, the company said on Thursday.
Sales of large-scale goods, according to the company's project, should be organized annually in Tashkent from Jan 5 to Feb 5. The company said it will contribute to attraction of additional flows of local and foreign tourists as well ensure load of the capital's hotels during periods of low tourism season.
In this regard the company also proposes to consolidate funds of hotels, trade enterprises, restaurants and other organizations concerned in carrying out advertising and information campaign to attract additional flows of tourists to Tashkent during periods of low tourism season.
'Uzbektourism' also plans together with the administration of Tashkent and Tashkent province to create facilities of agrotourism, which is at present asked-for area and is widely popularized in leading tourism countries.
At present 'Uzbektourism' prepared proposal on creation in the Tashkent province of 'Maize labyrinths' which are entertainment center for attraction of tourists to the region.
Development of agrotourism, increase in number and expansion of activities of entertainment centers, creation of theme parks will contribute to development of domestic tourism in Uzbekistan.
The Uzbek government approved program of targeted measures on development of tourism sphere and increase in export potential of tourism services in Tashkent till 2012.
Under the development of hotel economy it is planned to build 4 new hotels with capacity exceeding 500 rooms as well 3 recreation complexes and one trade and entertaining complex in Tashkent.
The program envisages creation in the Tashkent's old part of special art-street, embracing shops of craftsmen and souvenir shops, places for artists as well as construction of centre for holding dramatized shows of national customs and holidays with demonstration of cooking national dishes.
The program also envisages measures on raising attractiveness of historical and cultural facilities, inclusion of new landmarks in tourism routes.
The program worth $140 million will be financed by the State budget, the Uzbek commercial banks and business entities.
At present there are 7 hotels run by international operators in Tashent. The largest are hotel of the ministry for foreign economic relations, investments and trade, run by British InterContinental, Grande Plaza hotel complex owned by Indonesian investors as well hotel of the 'Aysel invest' Uzbek-Turkish JV, run by Rezidor
