President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov has dismissed the heads of two major banking institutions in the country, the State Development Bank and the Turkmenbank, for shortcomings in the work, the Turkmen government said on Friday.
"Unfortunately, some leaders do not justify the trust given to them and used their official position for jobbing," Mr Berdymuhamedov said, citing the chairman of one of the country's largest banks, the State Bank of Development Begench Chopanov as an example.

In this regard, the president dismissed Begench Chopanova "for serious shortcomings in his work and for not coping with the responsibilities assigned to him."
Chairman of the National Commercial Bank of Turkmenistan Dowd Durdiyev was also dismissed for shortcomings in his work.

The management of joint-stock commercial bank Senagat was reprimanded 'for the improper performance of official duties, the shortcomings in the organisation of his work'.

The State Bank of Development of Turkmenistan was established in late 2011. The bank as a financial representative of the State for investment projects was linked to the Stabilisation Fund. This is designated for concessional lending to companies and private employers regardless of the form of ownership to carry out projects for the development of production, modernisation and creation of new work places.
