President of Latvia Andris Berzins received the officials of the Caspian-European Integration Business Club (CEIBC) and Caspian Energy International Media Group on May 7, the CEIBC told Trend on Monday.

During the meeting President and CEO of CEIBC spoke about the activity of the Club and Caspian Energy International Media Group as well as about plans to open a representative office for the Baltic region in Riga.

President of Latvia Andris Berzins noted that "Azerbaijan is a strategic partner of Latvia, we have a lot of in common and there is need for developing relations".

"We have established tight contacts on high political level. Mutual understanding has also been established in the field of business. Considering plans to work in Riga, I assume we will gain success with Azerbaijan. We have mutual interests, we may work together and move forward", the head of the Latvian state proceeded.

He also noted that Latvia's climate promotes agriculture development. Energy sector develops actively in Azerbaijan. It is awesome for expanding goods turnover", he continued.

According to him, energy security cooperation is also developed with Azerbaijan. This sphere will keep developing on a commercial level in future. This issue is opened for discussion on a state level too.

CEIBC honorary membership certificate was presented to President of the Republic of Latvia Andris Berzins during the meeting. The President gave an exclusive interview to Caspian Energy journal.
