Iran has exported $700 million in handicrafts in the first 6 months of current Iranian calendar year, which began March 20, an official with the Iranian Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts Organization said on Monday.
Iran had exported $800 million worth of handicraft in the previous calendar year, the IRIB News Agency quoted Ahmad Balan as saying.
Iran has allocated $500 million out of the National Development Fund to the handicraft industry, the IRNA News Agency reported on October 15.
Deputy Head of Iranian Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts Organization, Mohammad-Hasan Salehimaram, also said in August that Iran will pay $1.5 billion in loans to support exporters of handicrafts.
He added hat the loans will be paid with 6 percent interest, according to the IRIB.
The value of exports is anticipated to reach $1.5 billion in the current year, Salehimaram noted.
