According to preliminary data, the revenues of KEGOC JSC (Kazakhstan Electricity Grid Operating Company, the system operator of the power grid of Kazakhstan) over the first quarter have increased by 14.2 percent and reached 22 billion tenge, or 2.73 billion tenge more than in the first quarter of 2012. Profit for the aforementioned period amounted to 3.8 billion tenge, or 69 percent more than last year, the company's press service reported on Wednesday.
Among the main factors of income growth were increase in services for the transmission of electricity and approval of the new tariffs for services provided by the system operator in October 2012.
"We are happy with the financial and operational performance. These results showed that KEGOC is in excellent shape in preparation for participation in the People's IPO program. KEGOC successfully performs the tasks assigned by the state to meet the needs of the economy," the press service quoted the chairman of the Board of KEGOC JSC Bakytzhan Kazhiev.
In total, as reported by the company, the volume of services provided by KEGOC JSC on the transmission of electrical energy in the first quarter of 2013 increased by 6.5 percent to 11.84 billion kWh, which is due to an increase in transit by Federal Grid Company UES Ltd. through the national energy system of Kazakhstan, as well as the growth of exports of electric energy in Russia.
