Iran needs to import 837,000 tons of sugar

Iran needs to import around 837,000 tons of sugar in the current calendar year (Which began March 21), the country's Industry, Mine and trade Ministry announced on Monday, the ISNA News Agency reported.

Based on the report, Tehran also needs to import 830,000 tons of sugar in the next Iranian calendar year.

Iran is expected to produce 1.494 and 1.534 million tons of sugar in current and next calendar year, respectively.

It is while the domestic consumption is estimated at 2.331 and 2.364 million tons in the two mentioned years.

ISNA previously reported that Iran was the world's third largest sugar importer in the previous calendar year.
