Volume of construction projects in Azerbaijan increases by almost 10 percent over course of year

The number of construction projects in Azerbaijan increased by 9.5 percent to 5.68 billion manat from January-September 2013, compared to the same period of 2012, the Azerbaijani State Statistics Committee (SCS) said.

According to the SCS, some 67.4 per cent of the total volume of construction accounted for primary construction, reconstruction and expansion, 17.4 per cent - for overhauls, 2.7 per cent - for current repairs and 12.5 per cent - for other construction work.

Some 79.1 per cent of the construction works were carried out by non-state construction companies.

Some 99,400 people were involved in Azerbaijan's construction sector in January-August 2013. The nominal wages in the construction sector amounted to 611.3 manat, which is 6.8 per cent more than in the same period of 2012.

The average salary in state-owned companies amounted to 496 manats (with an increase of 8.3 per cent over the year), private companies - 665.2 manats (with an increase of 2.7 per cent).

The level of wages in the construction of buildings increased by 1 per cent over the year - an average of 558.6 manats, specialized construction increased by four percent - up to 743.4 manats, civil construction operations increased by 37 per cent - up to 589.9 manats.
