Iranian private companies seeking to invest in Malaysia’s agriculture sector

By Fatih Karimov - Trend: Representatives of the Iranian private sector have attended an international conference in Malaysia' Kuala Lumpur, discussing ways to invest in Malaysia's agriculture sector, IRNA reported on Jan.15.

The conference has been organized by an Iranian private company. Agricultural experts from the U.S., Spain, South Korea, India, and Canada have also participated in the conference.

Special courses will be held on the sidelines of the conference to boost scientific knowledge and practical capabilities of participants.

Iran has been after self-sufficiency in agriculture and food production for the past three decades. A third of the country's land is suitable for farmland and the country enjoys a sizable agricultural sector, which makes up over 10 percent of its GDP, Press TV reported.

Iran's ranks agricultural exports third in the country after oil and rugs.
