Kazakhstan's economic growth this year can reach six percent and is expected to increasing to 6.4 percent in 2015, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) president Takehiko Nakao said at the 47th annual meeting of the ADB Board of Governors in Astana on May 2.

"We have recently published "Outlook for Astana 2014 development" in which we forecast the economic growth in Kazakhstan at six percent in 2014 and increasing to 6.4 percent in 2015 as this is a country of great opportunities," he said.

"Kazakhstan is a significant participant of the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation Program (CAREC)," he said.

"Kazakhstan plays an important role in trade between East and West," he added. "That's why the theme of this meeting is "Silk Road connecting Asia with a changing world". Taking into account the strategic location of Kazakhstan and its participation in CAREC, the country becomes the central figure for realizing this vision."
