Over 7% of population’s deposits fall to Azerbaijani regions

The population's deposits, attracted to Azerbaijan's banking system from the country's regions (except for Baku), hit 490.7 million manats (or at 7.4 percent of total bank deposits) in January-March 2014.

In Baku the volume of deposits stood at 6.165.7 billion manats, while the deposits in national currency accounted for 3.718.5 billion manats, according to the statistics report from the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA). The average interest rate in the country, as in Baku, totaled 8.1 percent during the reporting period.

Baku remains the leader of attracting the population's deposits by the banks.

Absheron economic region (157.3 million manats, the average rate - 9.1 percent per annum) is the leader in attracting the population's deposits.

The amount of deposits in the Aran economic region totaled 153.7 million manats at an average rate of 7.9 percent, Mountain-Shirvan - 13.26 million manats at a rate of 6.5 percent, Ganja-Gazakh - 54.35 million manats - 6.2 percent, Guba-Khachmaz - 17.5 million manats at a rate of 6.9 percent, Lankaran - 39.13 million manats- 7.8 percent, Sheki-Zagatala - 19.9 million manats - 6.3 percent, Upper Karabakh - 10.06 million manats - 4.8 percent, Kalbajar-Lachin - 6.2 million manats - 5.4 percent, Nakhchivan - 19.26 million mantas at an average rate of 3.9 percent.

The official exchange rate is 0.7843 AZN/USD on May 5.
