Azerbaijan reduces electricity export in H1 2015

Azerbaijan exported 192.25 million kilowatt hours of electricity in H1 of 2015, based on the customs declarations, Azerbaijani State Customs Committee said in its statistical report.

This is while the country exported 360.1 million kilowatt hours of electricity during the same period of 2014.

Azerbaijan exported $11.71 million worth electricity in January-June 2015, compared to $17.18 million in the same period of 2014.

Furthermore, Azerbaijan exported 588.32 million kilowatt hours of electricity in 2014, based on the customs declarations, compared to over 595.67 million kilowatt hours in 2013.

Azerenerji JSC is the main producer of electricity in Azerbaijan. The company has hundreds of substations and tens of power plants.

The generation capacity of Azerbaijan's power supply system has increased by 30 percent over the last five years. Currently, its capacity is 7,105 megawatt. This generates around 24 billion kilowatt hours of electricity and export 2.1 billion kilowatt hours of electricity annually.
