Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Combine (AMMC, Almalyk city, Tashkent region) signed a contract with Turkish Dal Teknik Makina to implement a project to expand the production capacity of a cement plant in Jizzakh region, a resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers said.

According to the document, the project worth $35.7 million is aimed at increasing the production capacity of the plant for the production of Portland cement to one million tons per year.

The contract worth $ 29 million includes the Turkish company's working out the documents, supply and installation of equipment, construction-installation and commissioning work on a "turnkey" basis.

The project will be financed through a loan from the Reconstruction and Development Fund of Uzbekistan in the amount of $ 14 million, AMMC's equity - $9 million and Mortgage Bank's loan at $12.8 million.

The construction is to be completed in 2016.

Earlier it was reported that in March 2014, AMMC completed construction of a cement plant in the Jizzakh region worth $114.18 million.

The project was financed with a loan from the Fund for Reconstruction and Development of Uzbekistan worth $74.2 million and AMMC's own funds.

As a general contractor Turkish Dal Teknik Makina Ticaret constructed the plant.
The design capacity is 350,000 metric tons of white cement and 760,000 metric tons of Portland cement per year.

Almalyk MMC is the only copper producer in Uzbekistan. The plant has the right to develop copper-molybdenum and lead-zinc ores near the city of Almalyk. The company produces refined copper (cathode), metal zinc, lead concentrate and other products.

The largest of them are Kyzylkumcement (3.08 million metric tons), Akhangarancement (1.74 million metric tons) and JSC Kuvasaycement (920,000 metric tons).
